After graduating from Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan (graduated 1988), and earning a DEA in automated production (1989), Bertrand Houx taught mechanical engineering for two years (1989-1991) in the Franco-Mexicain Lycée in Mexico. Between 1992 and 1998, he worked on the creation and development of the Guyana Technology Faculty in Cayenne where he taught mechanical engineering and industrial automation. Since 1998 he has been an associate professor at Ecole Centrale de Lyon in the Solid mechanics, mechanical engineering and civil engineering Department (MS.GM.GC.) where he teaches mechanical technology. He is also in charge of the manufacturing and metrology workshops. In addition he teaches computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and manufacturing engineering in the mechanical engineering design Department (GMC) of the National Institute of applied sciences of Lyon (INSA). In Continuing Education, he leads workshops on the interpretation of dimensional tolerancing for luxury watches.
