Hélène Magoariec, doctor-engineer in Solid Mechanics, is Associate Professor at École Centrale de Lyon. Passionate about mathematics and teaching methods, she became fascinated by mechanics and research during her graduate studies and found her vocation. She received her engineering degree from École Centrale de Marseille in 2000 and her PhD in Mechanics from the University of Aix-Marseille-II in 2003, in collaboration with the University of Aachen. She joined École Centrale de Lyon and the Tribology and System Dynamics Laboratory in 2005. She heads the engineer//architect joint academic curriculum with École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Lyon, the Teaching Unit "Mecahnics of Solids and Structures" from 2014 to 2020, and was elected at the Academic Council in 2017. Her research activities are related to the micromechanics of heterogeneous media applied to different materials: metal composites, semiconductors, granular materials, and since 2010 biological tissues.
